These thin, round flatbreads make the perfect vehicle for a wide range of delicious fillings, but are they vegan?

What are tortilla wraps?

Tortillas are an ancient thin flatbread that dates back to 500 B.C. and the indigenous people of Mesoamerica. Since then it has become a staple in many cuisines throughout countries in the American continents and right across the globe.

They’re made in many different sizes, but they’re always a thin, disc-shaped bread generally made from corn or wheat flour and can be filled with anything from beans to salsas, and perhaps most popularly, burritos.

Are wraps vegan?

Yes, tortilla wraps are completely vegan-friendly. They’re made from either wheat or corn flour, vegetable oil and salt. There was a stretch of time where lard was often included for mass production purposes, but thankfully for those of us on a plant-based diet, this is no longer in practice.
