Brayflox Longstop - Final Fantasy XIV Guide - IGN (2024)

Brayflox's Longstop is a level 32 - 34 (Levels 35 and above will be synchronised to 34) dungeon found in Eastern La Noscea. The dungeon requires a light party, consisting of 4 players, 1 Tank, 2 DPS and 1 Healer. In order to unlock this dungeon players require a quest given as part of the main story line missions.

Bestiary

The environment of Brayflox's Longstop resembles the surrounding location of Eastern La Noscea, both in aesthetics and monsters. Here you will find numerous Painted Colibris, Blue Backs, Sable Backs Comet Chasers, Ravelled Raincatchers and Surf Efts.

Bosses

Great Yellow Pelican

Bestiary

The great Yellow Pelican is a level 32 monster and the first boss of the Brayflox's Longstop dungeon. His attacks techniques are made up of two notable moves, one single target auto attack and a damagecone strike, both of which are of notably higher damage than what players will have previously experienced. In addition to these attacks the Great Yellow Pelican is also accompanied by 3 Violet Backs, which he will regularly spawn throughout the fight. The Violet Backs pose a serious threat as they are capable of causing a variety of status effects such as petrification and poison.

Strategy

Tank - In the engagement it is recommended that the tank lead the Great Yellow Pelican to the back wall ( The location of the Violet Backs later spawn), the reason for doing this is that it makes it easier for DPS party members to avoid the damage cone, and also provide an opportunity to your tank to take the hate from the Violet Backs as they spawn.

DPS -DPS play a vital role in this boss fight, as they are required to kill the Violet Backs with some haste. Upon spawning Violet Backs will typically target your partied healer, whom will likely be unable to preform crowd control due to the damage out put of the Great Yellow Pelican on the Tank. As a result DPS must always first focus these groups of Violet Backs, and only fight the Great Yellow Pelican when the other groups are dead.

Healer -At this point your healer will likely be either a White mage or Scholar. Both of which do sometimes struggle with mana in this fight. That said if you have a Bard in the party their mana song should allow to be a bit more indulgent with heals. That being said it is highly recommended to have several Hi-Ethers/ Mega-Ethers/X-Ethers to ensure that you can keep up. In the instance you are without these or you notice your mana slipping significantly, focus on spamming Cure 1's and only use Cure 2 in an emergency or as a free spell. You may also have to throw in the occasional esuna on party members .

Inferno Drake

Bestiary The Inferno Drake is a level 32 and the second boss of Brayflox's Longstop. He has two types of attack, the first is a single target melee skill, the second is a cone attack. Whilst fighting the Inferno Drake, Tempest Biast will appear, which is essential a smaller version of the Inferno Drake.

Strategy

The strategy for this boss is fairly simple, upon the entry of Tempest Biast have a party member cast Sleep on the Inferno Drake, followed by the entire party focusing down Tempest Biast first. Have your party member continue to cast sleep on the Inferno Drake when it wakes up, to allow your party more time to kill Tempest Biast, without taking unnecessary damage.

Hellbender

Bestiary

The Hellbender is a level 32 monster and the third boss of Brayflox's Longstop. He has 3 different attacks, the first is a single target auto attack, the second a small aoe mud spit attack - usually aimed at DPS/Healers, and the final is a dot crowd control bubble which he can cast on one party member. When Hellbender reaches 25% health remaining Aiatar ( A Dragon and the final boss of Brayflox's Longstop) will appear and finish him off. That then causes the party to have a basic Aiatar fight, in which him reaching 50% health will then retreat.

Strategy

In Order to defeat Hellbender party members must focus down the bubble that team mates are imprisoned in immediately. This bubble not only causes a variety of debuffs but also damages players over time, at a rate most healers will not be able to keep up with and heal the tank simultaneously.

Deep Jungle Coeurl

Bestiary

The Deep Jungle Coeurl is an optional boss that appears in Brayflox's Longstop, near the entrance to Aiatar's cave. He has both an simple auto attack and an aoe damage skill, which is also capable of inflicting paralysis. The chest he provides upon death has a chance to contain a green class ring, however can also contain basic items like a potion.

Strategy

The Deep Jungle Coeurl is one of the easier bosses of Brayflox's Longstop, and most parties will find him to be no issue. Players should ensure to stand outside of the red circle of his AOE, and members suffering from paralysis can be very quickly cured with Esuna.

Aiatar

Bestiary

Aiatar is a level 32 monster and the final boss of Brayflox's Longstop. He possess 3 attack moves, the first a single target auto attack, the second a aoe rectangular blast - capable of inflicting a poison which stacks, and the third a circular aoe poison - which persists throughout the battle, applies a stack of poison, damages parties inside and heals Aiatar - aimed usually at DPS and the Healer. Players will receive a notification when Aiatar is being healed, however in order to get a better idea of if he is inside these poison pools looking at his health bar has proved to be the best method.

Strategy

Tank- During the battle with Aiatar it is the tanks role to lead Aiatar away from the poison pools and also to dodge the rectangular poison blasts. One effective way to handle this is to have Aiatar pulled to the corner walls and have party DPS and the healer players stand in the centre of the map (assuming a non melee dps). This way the poison pools will be kept in the centre of the battle field and Aiatar can be lead from corner to corner along the sides if he does manage to land a pool near him.

DPS - Ranged DPS in this fight should mainly try to spread out, so that in the instance a poison pool is shot at them it does not damage surrounding party members (ie. healer/Other DPS). In addition to this try and allow for a clear path to exist for the Tank to lead Aiatar through, this can be done by trying to limit the poison pools to the centre of the field. As for melee DPS there isn't a huge amount of options, just ensure that you always dodge the rectangular poison blast, which should be aimed at the tank anyways.

Healer -If you do not have a Bard in your party you will definitely need multiple Hi-Ethers/ a Mega-Ether/a X-Ether. You will need to be regularly using Esuna to remove poison stacks from both your DPS and Tank. Try and use Cure 1 as much as you can restricting Cure 2 to free heals and emergencies. Aiatar will also likely shoot numerous poison pulls at you too so keep an eye on your healer and try and ensure that you are restricting the spread of the poison pools by standing in the centre of the map, so the tank has a clear path along the corners.

BRAYFLOX'S RUNSTOP

In Brayflox's Runstop portion of the map, just after having killed the Great Yellow Pelican you will find numerous Goblins fighting invading monsters. If you choose to help them out and manage to keep them alive whilst fighting the monsters, they will present you with a variety of useful loot, usually equipment drops.

Mudsop Watergush

The easiest way to navigate through the Mudsop Watergush portion of the map, that occurs just after defeating the Inferno Drake, is to hug the left hand side of the area. This will also allow you to still collect the various items in the region as part of the two inland inlets.
