Clayton "Clay" Turner is a golem created by Margaret Crain to murder several of The Order's recruits. He was recreated by Jack Morton to masquerade as himself to trick Edward Coventry into failing the completion of the Vade Maecum Infernal.

Background[]
Clay is a golem that was created by one of the members of The Hermetic Order of the Blue Rose, Margaret Crain. She ordered him to assassinate several of the Order's neophytes, so that her son, Gregory, could be admitted.
Throughout the Series[]
Season 1[]
Clay appears for the first time in Hell Week, Part One, as Jack's roommate at Belgrave University.
Under orders from its creator, Clay brutally assassinated several of The Order's newcomers during their subservience tests, including Weston Miller, Drea Antonucci and Amir.
At night, he attacks Gabrielle Dupres while walking in the street, being confronted by Jack and Alyssa. In spite of managing to subdue to both, Margaret orders him to retire and to return with her, reason why leaves leaving them alive.
The next day, Jack gets to deduce his true identity to see the clay watered by the entire room. Clay then is forced to kill him, but Jack manages to save himself by erasing the magic word from his forehead that keeps him alive. Jack then takes his head to The Order in the middle of Gregory's initiation, revealing him as the murderer. After his head is revived by Edward Coventry, Clay reveals his creator as Margaret Crain. Margaret is then sentenced for betraying the Order and when she chooses Morlock's Lament as her means of execution, Clay, now under Edward's control, is designated as her executioner.
In Finals, Part Two, Jack revives Clay to use him to trick Edward Coventry. Now under Jack's command, Clay takes Jack's appearance and appears in the temple where Edward waits for the last sacrifice to complete the ritual to obtain the power of the Vade Maecum Infernal. Revealing Jack as Edward's firstborn son, Edward plans to sacrifice him to complete the ritual. However, the true Jack reveals that he was sacrificing Clay instead, resulting in the contract incomplete and with Edward being imprisoned inside the Vade Maecum.
Personality[]
Clay is presented with a strange and creepy personality. Due to being a being created with magic, Clay has a great existentialist complex, constantly making complicated reasonings about life and death. Clay also has a violent side, killing brutally and ruthlessly under the orders of its creator.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Superhuman Strength: As a golem, Clay possesses an incredible amount of physical strength.
- Invulnerability: Due to his clay body, Clay can not be injured by blows or weapons.
- Shapeshifting: Clay can change between his golem and human form at will. He is also able to take the appearance of other people, which is seen when he shifts into Jack.
