Dragon Isles Tailoring brings in four distinct main specializations. These are Tailoring Mastery, Textiles, Draconic Needlework, and Garmentcrafting, each one with several sub-specializations. But in order to become a decent crafter, you’ll have to spend your Knowledge Points (KP) wisely.

The following starter build is pretty much fool-proof and will open the path to crafting higher-quality goods of various kinds. But most importantly, you’ll be able to access crafting Azureweave Expedition Packs (34 slot bags) early. And crafting bags has always been a fairly profitable business as a tailor in World of Warcraft.

The Reasoning Behind This Build

First, you’ll have to unlock the possibility to craft Azureweave Bolts, and then improve your chances to obtain them at Tier 3 quality and reduce the cooldown of their crafting. So, for that, you’ll need to start with 15 KP in Draconic Needlework, then unlock Azureweave Tailoring.

The next step is to unlock Azureweaving, which requires 15 KP in Azureweave Tailoring. And finally, by capping Azureweaving, you’ll reduce the cooldown of crafting Azureweave Bolts.

Next, by unlocking Tailoring Mastery and capping Shrewd Stitchery, you’ll get a hefty Inspiration and Crafting Skill bonus, which helps with all crafts.

Tips

In order to unlock the Azureweave Expedition Pack pattern, you’ll need to reach Renown Level 20 with the Dragonscale Expedition faction. Although this shouldn’t be too hard, it may take a couple of weeks, depending on how frequently you play your character. The pattern is sold by Cataloger Jakes (47, 82) at the Dragonscale Expedition Basecamp in The Waking Shores. Now, the beautiful part about crafting bags, is that they don’t have T1-T2-T3 quality, so you can craft the good ones, even with the lowest-tier reagents. Plus, the Azureweave bag pattern only turns gray at 75 skill, so you’ll get a decent amount of skill points from it, while crafting something useful and in pretty high demand.

As you’ll be earning more KP from weekly activities, capping Azureweave Tailoring, Draconic Needlework, and Tailoring Mastery is a fairly good choice. This will grant you extra Inspiration and Skill Points when crafting Azureweave stuff. Also, unlocking a Garmentcrafting specialization line that allows you to craft robes and hats is not a bad idea, as this will give you the possibility to craft profession gear at a fairly decent quality.

Needless to say, it’s pretty important to invest in superior Tailoring profession gear. The Dragoncloth Tailoring Vestments, Khaz’gorite Needle Set, and Spring-Loaded Khaz’gorite Fabric Cutters will grant you extra skill points and Inspiration. Also, don’t forget to enchant your fabric cutters with Draconic Inspiration.

How To Get Tailoring Knowledge Points

1. First Crafts – every time you craft something for the first time, you’ll get KP, as well as Artisan Mettle.

2. Weekly item drops – Stupidly Effective Stitchery (drops from the Azure Span gnolls), Ohn’arhan Weave (drops from centaurs), Umbral Bone Needle, and Primalweave Spindle; the last two can be found in Expedition Scout’s Packs, Disturbed Dirt, or other forms of world treasures.

3. Dragon Shard of Knowledge – quest item found in Disturbed Dirt, Expedition Scout’s Pack, or various other reward boxes. You can turn these shards in for Knowledge Points at Khadin in Ohn’Ahran Plains (51, 33). But in order to get Dragon Shards of Knowledge, you’ll have to complete the quest chain Catching Up! which starts with A Gift For Miguel and ends with A Worthy Hunt. One shard equals one point.

4. Draconic Treatise on Tailoring – these can be acquired from Inscription crafters via public crafting orders.

5. Valdrakken weekly quests.

6. Crafter’s Knowledge – when reaching Renown Levels 14 and 24 with Dragonscale Expedition and Valdrakken Accord. Also upon reaching renown level 12 with the Loamm Niffen.

7. Dusty Tailor’s Diagrams, Rare Tailor’s Diagrams, and Ancient Tailor’s Diagrams – sold by Rabul in Valdrakken (35, 59) when you reach Preferred, Respected, and Valued reputation with the Artisan Consortium.

8. Niffen Notebook of Tailoring Knowledge – sold by Harlowe Marl (56, 55) at the Loamm in Zaralek Cavern.

9. One-time loot Knowledge Treasures found in specific locations in the Dragon Isles.
