These drop randomly while harvesting. The higher level the harvestable item is, the higher chance of spawning a Gold Nugget. If you have Farmhands, there is a slight chance to acquire Gold Nuggets through them as well.
The Pot O' Gold Well item from the Lucky Harvest event awards a Gold Nugget when harvested every 30 minutes.
The Arcane Horse event animal also gives a Gold Nugget as a resource when harvested.
