How do you choose a winner on wheel of names? ›

Enter names, and spin the wheel to pick a random winner. You can customize the look and feel, and save and share your wheels with others.

Can I rig the wheel? No, but you can skew the odds by making some entries larger.

Save Wheel

If you want to save multiple wheels, say multiple class rosters of student names, click Save at the top of the page. You will be asked to log in with your Google account. After you have done so, you can save the current wheel under a name of your choosing.

Why is number 37 everywhere? When we think of randomness, something chaotic and unpredictable often comes to mind. The funny thing is that when people are asked to choose a random number between 1 and 100, they will most reliably select 37. That doesn't feel very random.

The Wheel of Names is 100% fair to use and can't be manipulated. The tool is using a pseudorandom number generator (PRNG) to ensure complete randomness when selecting a name.

Although the Wheel of Names allows you to add as many names as you like, the maximum number of names showing at any time will be 48. If there are more, the names change each second until starting to spin the wheel.

To randomly select and remove a name from a list, you can use a combination of the INDEX, RANDBETWEEN, and FILTER functions. Here is the generic formula: =INDEX (list, RANDBETWEEN (1, COUNTA (list))) Where list is the range of cells that contains the names. This formula will return a random name from the list.
