Air fryers are worktop gadgets renowned for cutting both time and money spent in the kitchen. Standard ovens are swapped out for the likes of Ninja, Tefal, and Lakeland models to save on electricity costs and cook healthier food, but now shoppers have found a cheaper gadget to replace them with.
Instead of air fryers food lovers are switching to healthier halogen ovens, still small enough to place on the kitchen worktop but much cheaper to run. This £29.89 Daewoo model on Amazon costs as little as 11p to run per 20-minute meal as shoppers who 'don't want to spend money on Ninja' pick it.
With a roasting, baking, and grill setting, the model went viral earlier this year as middle-aisle Aldi shoppers spotted it's £10 cheaper than the supermarket's 4.5-litre version. It has more than double the capacity with 17 litres, and can 'cook food to perfection'. However, Aldi sell theirs for £29.99 - making the Amazon version 1p cheaper.

Halogen ovens, or also called halogen air fryers, are generally larger than your typical pull-out draw air fryers and can cook larger quantities of food at once. As the name suggests, a halogen lamp is used to cook the food, and it's easy to see the food as it cooks thanks to their glass bowls.
To show just how much cheaper it would be to cook with a halogen model over a usual air fryer we used the energy-saving site Sust-it to compare a 20-minute run time. The Daewoo Halogen model costs as little as 11p to run for a full 20 minutes (with its 1300W), a lot less than using Ninja's Foodi FlexiDrawer Dual AirFryer (for example) - its 2470W would cost 20p for 20 minutes.
A huge cost-saving feature that many users have been quick to rave about on Amazon. As one shopper explained: "I ordered this as a much cheaper alternative to an air fryer. I’ve had it now for several months and it has completely replaced my oven.
"It can hold a medium chicken and still have room for a few roast potatoes. I’ve also used it to bake cakes and buns and the results have been fantastic. The fact that this is glass makes it so easy to see how food is cooking/baking without having to open it."
Another Amazon shopper said that they couldn't see them 'swapping the halogen model for an air fryer anytime soon', while other reviews pointed out its speedy cooking time. As a second shopper said: "It is fast, it cooks evenly, it cooks in half the time of a normal oven, it deep fries without needing to plunge food into deep and unhealthy amounts of oil."
Out of the 7,822 reviews, 7% have rated the Daewoo air fryer a one star, with reviews that say the element 'just doesn't get hot enough' or the bulb only lasted for a couple of months. There are a lot of brands selling halogen air fryers on Amazon, including the £49 Tower T14048.
