The Sisko Came Back for a Purpose
The crossover event between Star Trek and Star Trek: Defiant comes to a thrilling conclusion in part five of Day of Blood! Using powers bestowed upon him by the Prophets, emissary Benjamin Sisko withstands the god-killing weapon for now, but forces of the Orb of Destruction wear on him with each passing moment. Meanwhile, Worf agonizes over a fatal wound of his own that he can never hope to heal. What will become of our heroes? What will become of the universe? Can the crews of the Theseus and Defiant stop the godkiller once and for all?
Captain Sisko forsook our reality at the end of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, opting to study with the non-linear Bajoran Prophets. However, the Prophets quickly sent him back to discover the culprit behind a series of coordinated attacks on the universe’s god-like beings. Assembling a crew made up of various iterations of the Star Trek franchise, Sisko set out in a highly advanced ship, the USS Theseus, to find who was behind it all. Sisko eventually learned the clone Klingon Emperor Kahless had begun massacring god-like beings, including Gary Mitchell and the Crystalline Entities. Such a display of power had never been seen before in the Star Trek universe. Enjoy variant covers from Marcus To and Megan Levens below.

Sisko Is Facing Down a Force Even the Q Fear
And yet despite having killed these godlike beings, Captain Sisko will be able to stand up to the God-Killer Array. This array has laid waste to some of the universe’s most powerful beings, rendering the Crystalline Entities extinct in a single blast. Likewise, the God Killer Array has scared even the Q, who fled in fear to the far reaches of space. The Crystalline Entities, the Q and Gary Mitchell are the embodiment of power, possessing it on a truly cosmic scale. If Sisko is truly able to withstand the weapon’s full power, then it indicates he is something more than a god - but what? Will his unique human/Prophet heritage be his saving grace, or are other forces at work?
If Captain Sisko is indeed something more than a god - what is he? The Bajoran people, and their Prophets, continually call him "the Emissary." This has generally been taken to refer to his connection to the Prophets, but now it seems like it may mean even more. Sisko isn't unbeatable, as his powers are fading fast after leaving the Bajoran wormhole, but being able to survive a weapon that even the Q fear shows that he's redefining power in Star Trek lore.
