Founded in 2011, Stitch Fix sells third-party and own, men’s, women’s and children’s brands. Based in San Francisco, it launched its first and only international arm in the UK in 2019.
In June, the company said it was exploring an exit of the UK market, and has now confirmed that it will wind down operations by 31 October. It will then focus on trading in the US.
When Stitch Fix announced the possibility in June, it said “the macroeconomic environment and our business have changed”, reporting a 20% net revenue drop from the previous year and a net loss of $21.8m (£17.5m), compared with a loss of $78m (£62.7m) in the same period in 2022.
Having launched a strategic review in order to improve efficiencies and maintain profitability, the brand has since decided to close its doors in the UK. “We’re sorry to say that our Stitch Fix UK journey is coming to an end,” the business said an Instagram post shared on Friday 25 October.
Another post announced a “thank you sale” whereby customers can receive 70% off five items and 50% off four items.

Stitch Fix has also undergone leadership changes with founder Katrina Lake returning as CEO in January then handing over to Matt Baer, ex-chief customer and digital officer at Macy’s, in June. Several other members of the leadership are also reported to have left.
