In total, there are 176,400 possible fusion combinations, making Pokemon Infinite Fusion's Pokedex far bigger than any official game in the series has ever attempted to create, giving players a huge amount of content to uncover as they fuse mons for themselves.

The gameplay itself takes on the form of a standard Pokemon adventure at its surface level, with players catching and training critters to battle their way through 16 total gyms across the Kanto and Johto regions. The added story premise builds upon a new invention developed by Silph Co. called the DNA Splicers which Team Rocket seeks to utilize for their own nefarious purposes. Although the DNA Splicers are not a completely original item, appearing in Pokemon Black 2 and White 2, their only use in those games was to allow Kyurem to change forms by fusing with Reshiram or Zekrom, so Pokemon Infinite Fusion's use of the item greatly expands on their original concept.

The real meat of Pokemon Infinite Fusion is the fusions themselves, which require players to purchase DNA Splicers from the PokeMart to perform. When fusing two mons, players will get to choose between two new forms with one base mon acting as the head and the other as the body, combing the two mons' typing. Once fused, players then get to choose from both base mons' move pools, Pokemon abilities, and natures to create their ideal fusion, but these fusions can be reversed should the player not like the result by using DNA Reverses that can also be purchased from the PokeMart.
