4 popular bathroom types for you to consider for your new remodel | NPM Bathrooms (2024)

Designer bathrooms come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. You can find space-saving ensuites with standing showers, grand spaces with bathtubs and double sinks, and wet rooms with huge waterfall shower heads. The opportunities are endless! Now, as expert bathroom designers here at NPM Bathrooms, we know that although it’s wonderful to have so much choice, it can also be a little overwhelming when designing your space. So if you’re caught between a couple of choices, take a look at our options here and be inspired by what each space has to offer.

1. Master bathrooms

The master bath is the main bathroom in your home and is often attached to or close to the master bedroom. The focus here is on relaxation. A large, open space for easy changing, a bathtub for unwinding in, and a vanity sink for applying your skincare before bed. Design your master bathroom with serenity and peace at its core.

2. Full bathrooms

A full bathroom features all the essentials: a toilet, a sink, and a bath and/or shower. Usually, these are arranged to stand along different sides of the walls, though some spaces may benefit from everything standing along the same wall. It’s more practical than the master bath and ideal for the whole family.

3. Half bathrooms

The half bath contains a toilet and sink, without a shower or bath. You might have heard of this being referred to as the power room, which is a traditional term for the practical space. Usually, half bathrooms are found downstairs and are ideal as guest toilets.

4. Split bathrooms

In a split bath, the sink is in a separate room from the toilet and shower/bath. A lockable door separates the two areas so that the bathroom can be used by multiple people at the same time. On busy weekday mornings, for example, your children could be brushing their teeth whilst you’re in the shower, speeding up the school run and avoiding arguments.

5. Jack and Jill

If you’ve ever seen a bathroom that has two doors, it’s a Jack and Jill layout. This style connects two rooms for joint access. It’s a popular option for shared bathrooms, such as between two children’s bedrooms or in student accommodation.

These are the most popular bathroom styles out there, but there are plenty more! Whether you’re looking to create a space like one of these or have a completely unique idea, rest assured that our team at NPM Bathrooms are here to help.
