More than 100 years after its sinking, the Titanic is still the most famous passenger liner. The luxury cruise liner sank during its maiden voyage from Southampton, England to New York, United States on April 15, 1912. The ill-fated ship has continued to fascinate people with many documentaries and films made on its tragic story.
A popular Instagram page called Taste Atlas (tasteatlas) shared photos of the menus showing the food that was served on various classes of the ship. “The Titanic was the most luxurious ship afloat and food onboard was a big part of the liner’s appeal. Curried chicken, baked fish, spring lamb, mutton, and roast turkey were common menu items, as was pudding for dessert. The night the Titanic sank, the doomed second class passengers had plum pudding, also known as Christmas pudding. These were the menus for all three classes,” the caption of the post said.

There was a visible difference between the menus of the three classes. While there were many options to choose from in the breakfast for second class passengers, the third class only had a limited set of dishes for breakfast and dinner.
Oatmeal porridge and milk, smoked herrings, jacket potatoes, ham and eggs, fresh bread and butter, marmalade, and Swedish bread were the only options for breakfast in the third class. The dinner consisted of rice soup, fresh bread, cabin biscuits, roast beef, brown gravy, sweet corn, boiled potatoes, plum pudding and sweet sauce fruit.
