How to Reheat Quiche (1)

Quiche is a welcome addition at potlucks, brunches and birthday parties alike. But next-day quiche can be a little…meh. Leftover pastry can quickly turn soggy and that once silky filling can turn intoa gelatinousblock. But it doesn’t have to be that way. When handled with care, yesterday’s eggy tart can retain its crispy crust and softinterior today, and yes, even tomorrow. Once you know how to reheat quiche, there’s a good chance you’ll skip the ceremony and start cooking ‘em up for no occasion at all.

How to Reheat Quiche in the Oven

While not the quickest option, the oven is undeniably the best way to restore the decadent flavor of quiche, without compromising its delicate texture. In fact, if you are reheating more than just a slice, we strongly suggest you set aside 20 minutes to use the oven. Here’s how to do it:

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.

2. Remove the quiche from the refrigerator and let rest at room temperature while the oven warms up. A room temperature quiche will take less time to heat than a cold one—and the key to excellent quiche is to use just as much heat as necessary, lest the delightful egg-and-cream combo turns a bit too dense.

3. When the oven is ready, evaluate the quiche to determine whether or not it needs some extra insurance. If the edges are already golden-brown, cover the crust (but not the filling) with foil to prevent a burnt-toast exterior.

4.If your quiche is already hanging out in some kind of quiche-shaped bakewarethenit’s good to go. If not, place your pie on a baking pan and pop it in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes.

5. Start checking on the early side for an internal temperature of 165°F, so you can slice up and serve that savory pie as soon as possible.

How to Reheat Quiche in the Toaster Oven

This method works in much the same way as the oven, but with a smaller cooking capacity. For that reason, toasting is ideal for single or double servings.

1. Heat the toaster oven to 375°F and let the quiche rest at room temperature while you wait for that pleasant ding!

2. When the oven is ready, slice off a few servings and cover the crust with foil if necessary to prevent over-browning.

3. Place your slice of egg-and-cheese goodness in the toaster oven for 15 to 45 minutes. The downside of a toaster oven is that different models vary tremendously in cooking power. For best results, start checking your quiche at the 15-minute mark, and every five minutes thereafter.

4. The quiche ready when it’s hot or when the internal temperature reaches 165°F.

How to Reheat Quiche in the Microwave

This method may be the quickest but it’s certainly not the best since the microwave tends to reduce fluffy eggs to a rubbery texture. To avoid this, follow these steps:

1. Let the quiche rest at room temperature for 20 minutes prior to reheating.

2. Once the pie has lost its chill, place it in a microwave-safe container. Note: Do not keep it in a pie tin or protect the crust with foil.

3. Reduce the settings on your microwave to 50 percent power and warm the whole quiche for up to three minutes, checking once at the two-minute mark. If the quiche isn’t ready at three minutes, give it more time—but stay vigilant and start checking every 30 seconds.

4. Serve and gobble up that quiche once it’s nice and hot with an internal temp of 165°F.
