could not agree more xxx
I sold one of my snowmobiles to some kids from the Poconos they came on a Sunday with cash and were all excited to go riding I called the local tag place and the woman met me there because she will do some appointments if you call in advance the two kids were all mad that I made them transfer the paperwork into their name . I did not want them ripping around on my sled across Private property causing havoc and getting me blamed for it since my registration numbers were on there. Cover your A** !!! Never forget that

not to offend, and sorry don't mean to laff @ your post, but LOL at a Sunday Title Transfer... heck in my county a Wednesday title transfer means a 20 minute drive each way sitting in line for 45 minutes to an hour, and that's assuming you do the deal before 4:30 in teh afternoon, NOTHING is happening after 4:30, ever. Sunday ? not a chance. And I know this sounds silly, but when your local CL has maybe 5 new ski's up for sale every day, if you turn into a stickler for paperwork, you might never sell anything ! Most of the time the buyer is happy that I even have the title (you'd be surprised how many sellers dont) and there thrilled when I have a registration on the trailer, since a LOT of Florida users just move their tag from trailer to trailer over the years and never think about it.

I'd never do it that way. Way too risky. At a minimum you should be having your paperwork (title/reg and bill of sale) notarized. CYA--cover your azz.

you guys are much more careful than I am, not to say that I don't care, but its just not practical, I do see your point, but where the hell will I dig up a notary at 8pm in my living room ? As far as I'm concerned if I have a bill of sale for the ski, (with the person's name on the paper assuming he gave me the right name), and half the time I can't read their signature, I sign the title and 90% of the time they sign in front of me, after that my primary concern is are the $100's real, and I use a counterfeit pen, best I can do on a practical basis.

heck, this will drive you nuts... ,when I sold my lexus, the guy got dropped off by a friend, with a plate in hand, and $100's in his wallet, I handed him the key's (i was at work) and told him to take a test ride and come back in 10 minutes, (i went back inside, i had customers waiting) , he returned and paid me, I loaned him a phillips screwdriver to put the plates on, and vroom vroom he drove off with a signed title all I had was a bill of sale.

maybe i'm trusting or stupid, or both lol, but i'm just happy to sell the item and move on.

now that I recall when i bought SDB's ski for him, i bought it out of a parking lot on the highway halfway between the seller house and mine, I left it at a mechanics for a week, bought parts, test rode it, then gave it to SDB two weeks later, ALL with an open title, no registration on the trailer and a bill of sale that was hand written on notebook paper.

the last 98 GTXL I bought for parts, I looked at it in the back yard of a vacant house, drove to the lady's new house, paid her $450, got an open title, no trailer paperwork at all, then drove back to the vacant house and picked it up. made me think I should have just drove away with it on the first stop lol.
