LAFAYETTE, Ind. — At their Dec. 20 meeting, Tippecanoe Countycommissioners accepted bids regarding new projects at the fairgrounds.
The county approved a $23,500 contract with Tecton Construction Management and to handle the proposed project plan, which aims to construct a new entrance for the fairground as well as renovate certain aspects of the interior and exterior of the old horse farm.
There were two contracts open for bids regarding this project, a general trades contract and a structural steel contract. In total, five bids were submitted for this project, two per contract, and one combination bid from Tecton. The country awarded both contracts to the J. R. Kelly Company.
For the general trades contract, J. R. Kelly Company put in a bid for $95,000 and for the structural steel contract, $81,700.
The county also noted that there were three buildings with the county in need of exterior maintenance: the Tippecanoe County Office Building, the Tippecanoe County Health Department Vital Records and Nursing Building, and the Tippecanoe County Courthouse. The county approved three contracts with Ziolkowski Construction Inc. out of South Bend, Ind.
►Tippecanoe County Office Building – The contract will cost $42,781, and plans to repair cracks on the building, replace expansion joints and conduct tuckpointing of the building.
►Tippecanoe County Health Department Vital Records and Nursing Building - The contract will cost $32,819, and plans to repair cracks on the building, replace expansion joints and conduct tuckpointing of the building.
►Tippecanoe County Courthouse – The contract will cost $67,400 and plans to replace the limestone around the public access point on Columbia Street, with a cast stone that looks very similar to limestone. This project has been presented to the Historic Preservation Committee and was expected to get final approval at a meeting later that day.
