The dining plans at Disney World are a great way to pay ahead and make your experience feel more like an all-inclusive vacation. Taxes for all of your meals are included but you will need to pay extra for gratuities at table service restaurants. The average tip in the US is 15-20% depending on how great the service was. I typically tip 20% at all Disney World restaurants because the service is truly next-level. The only exception to this rule is that gratuity is included at Cinderella's Royal Table and the dinner shows.
I always use the dining plan as an excuse to splurge on food. You are not limited to what you can order so feel free to go for the most expensive item on the menu. I always reserve a character dining experience for one of my table service meals because it is such a great value! My favorite one is the breakfast at Topolino's Terrace. It is a beautiful location, the food is delicious, and you get to see classic Disney characters in their Parisian artistic finest.
